Who does Koʻolauloa Health Center serve?

Koʻolauloa Health Center serves everyone. We do not turn anyone away due to the inability to pay for our services.


What is a FQHC?

A federally qualified health center is a designation received by the federal U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration through a competitive process. This designation allows Koʻolauloa Health Center to receive a federal grant which subsidizes our health center to cover the costs of our uninsured and under insured population. In addition, an fqhc is heavily regulated to ensure that quality health care is provided to all.


 

I don’t have health insurance, can I still come to Koʻolauloa Health Center?

Yes, that is what we are here for. Our staff will help you determine whether you actually qualify for health insurance. If not, our services are still available to you.


 

Does Koʻolauloa Health Center have a pharmacy?

Yes, we have a pharmacy at our Kahuku Clinic which is open to everyone whether a patient or not. One advantage of being our patient is that you may be eligible to receive a discount on your prescriptions if your health insurance does not cover prescriptions or if your co-pay is extremely high.


 

Is Koʻolauloa Health Center affiliated with Kahuku Medical Center?

Kahuku Medical Center is an affiliate of the State's hospital system. Their primary function is to be a hospital. Koʻolauloa Health Centers’ primary focus is to provide quality primary medical, dental, behavioral, and pharmacy services to all.


Does Koʻolauloa Health Center provide keiki dental care?

Dr. Serrato is our General Dentist and would love to have your keiki schedule a visit. Many people do not realize that dental health is directly related to overall health.


 

If I live out side of Koʻolauloa Health Centers coverage area, can I still make an appointment?

Yes! We welcome everyone.
