Job Description & Overview
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a key member of the senior executive team at Ko‘olauloa Health Center (KHC) responsible for overseeing the clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The CMO will provide leadership, strategic direction, and vision to the medical staff and clinical services, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership:
Provide strategic leadership and direction for all clinical programs and services.
Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of care.
Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safety.
Operational Management:
Oversee the day-to-day clinical operations and ensure efficient use of resources.
Collaborate with other senior leaders to align clinical goals with organizational objectives.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HRSA requirements for Federally Qualified Health Centers.
Quality & Performance Improvement:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours and days may vary depending on department needs.
Report to work on time.
If late to work because of emergencies will call to notify the Chief Medical Officer.
Request for time off should be submitted to the Chief Medical Officer one month in advance.
Staff Management & Development:
Recruit, train, and mentor medical staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Conduct performance evaluations and implement professional development plans.
Address clinical staff concerns and ensure effective communication within the medical team.
Patient Care & Community Engagement:
Ensure the delivery of patient-centered, culturally competent care.
Engage with patients and the community to understand their needs and improve service delivery.
Represent the health center in community meetings, health fairs, and other public forums.
Financial Oversight:
Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage the clinical budget.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement without compromising quality of care.
Monitor billing and coding practices to ensure compliance and optimize reimbursement.
Strategic Planning:
Contribute to the development and implementation of the health center's strategic plan.
Identify and pursue opportunities for growth, partnerships, and innovation in clinical services.
Stay informed about healthcare trends and policies that may impact the health center
Qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Board certification in a relevant specialty.
Valid medical license to practice in Hawai‘i.
Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center or similar healthcare setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse clinical team.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
