NPHW: Safe to Sleep Initiative

Aloha ‘Ohana!

In celebration of National Public Health Week (April 7-13), we’re celebrating the #PublicHealth campaigns that have helped create safer, stronger, healthier communities over the last 30 years. Each day this week KHC will highlight a public health initiative that has helped create safer, stronger, and healthier communities over the last 30 years!

Today we’re lifting up the Safe to Sleep initiative. Safe to Sleep encourages parents and caregivers to place babies to sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The national campaign began in 1994 and shared critical information about infant sleep through PSAs on 6,700 radio stations and 1,000 TV stations, and collaborated with 250,000+ childcare centers nationwide.
