Self-Care

Aloha ‘Ohana,

Here is a great message from our friends at the Hawaii Department of Health:

Devoting some time every day to care for yourself can go a long way toward protecting your heart health. Self-care, like moving more, preparing healthier meals, getting enough quality sleep, and taking a moment to de-stress, helps your heart.

Mask Mandates Lifted!

Aloha ‘Ohana - some great news!

Hawaii’s indoor statewide mask mandate will expire on March 25 at 11:59 pm! It’s taken our entire community to get to this point - with lowered case counts and hospitalizations.

Huge mahalo to everyone. Our community has gotten better at treating people who are infected, the booster shots we have administered are helping save lives, and the infection rates for our entire state are now categorized at “low”.

Once again from our entire staff at Ko’olauloa Health Center, we want to thank everyone for their hard work, patience, support, and commitment to keeping our community safe. This is a collective milestone that we have all been waiting for.

Symptoms

Aloha ‘Ohana,

Here is a great message from our friends at the Hawaii State Department of Health.

Those of you who may have contracted COVID-19 may not experience symptoms. However, you can still spread the virus to those you love around you. If you have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, quarantine to protect your loved ones and those at high risk.

If you haven’t gotten your vaccine, to get your booster, or to get tested, please make your vaccination appointment with our team by calling (808) 293-9231.

One in Five

Aloha ‘Ohana!

As we start 2022 we would like to help protect your keiki, your family, and our community. Getting a COVID-19 vaccine can help protect children ages 5 years and older from getting COVID-19.

  • Vaccinating children can help protect family members, including siblings who are not eligible for vaccination and family members who may be at increased risk of getting very sick if they are infected.

  • Vaccination can also help keep children from getting seriously sick even if they do get COVID-19.

  • Vaccinating children ages 5 years and older can help keep them in school and help them safely participate in sports, playdates, and other group activities.

  • Help us protect your whole family and slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community by getting yourself and your children ages 5 years and older vaccinated against COVID-19.

Call (808) 293-9231 to make your vaccination appointment today.

Boosters Approved

Aloha ‘Ohana - here is some good news for you this Monday.

CDC backs expansion of COVID boosters for all adults

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky is recommending COVID-19 vaccine boosters for all adults. The announcement came just hours after a vaccine advisory committee voted unanimously to expand Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine boosters to everyone 18 and older.

Last week Friday, the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted in support of a change to COVID-19 vaccination policy that says people 50 and older should get a booster if they had a primary immunization with an mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer) at least six months before. The recommendation also applies to people 18 and older in long-term care settings.

For people at least 18 and younger than 50, the panel supported a policy that recommends they receive a booster based on their individual risks and benefits.

If you have any questions regarding your booster, or if you haven’t gotten your COVID-19 vaccination yet, please call our friendly staff at (808) 293-9231 to set up an appointment today.
