Did you know that May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month?

APPI Heritage Month is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, and Easter Island).

We wanted to take this time to say CONGRATULATIONS to Kahuku Health Learning Center’s accomplishments! Here is a quick run-down:

Problem-Based Assessment District Competition

- Kahuku got 1st place! 

- Our very own Dr. Lum helped with judging the Kahuku High School competition.

3 Kahuku High School interns at KHC

- The interns have been learning about the day-to-day activities at our health center. 

- They have been exposed to various clinical learning opportunities.

KHC Staff have participated in HOSA – Future Health Professionals class activities

- Presentations about various medical professions

- Helping with manual blood pressure evaluations

- 34 students competed at the HOSA State Leadership Conference

- 6 students qualified for HOSA International Leadership Conference & will be going to Dallas, Texas June 19th - 25th.

Congratulations to everyone. We’re so excited for all of you and Kahuku Health Learning Centers programs!

Aloha Med-QUEST ‘Ohana! 

If you haven’t already, please be on the lookout for a PINK letter from Hawaii’s Med-QUEST Division.  Over the next year through March 2024, Med-QUEST will be sending their members a letter that contains eligibility renewal information.  Not all members will receive their pink letters at the same time.  This pink letter may require a response in order to maintain health coverage.

Be sure to read the letter and follow all instructions, if applicable.

In preparation for this renewal period, Med-QUEST asks members to do the following:

  • Be sure to update your contact information by logging into your account on medical.mybenefits.hawaii.gov or by calling the Health Plan number on the back of your insurance card.

  • If you no longer need QUEST (Medicaid) coverage, call them at 1-800-316-8005, to let them know.

  • If you need coverage but no longer qualify for Med-QUEST, please check with your employer to see if you are eligible for health insurance coverage.

  • If you are not eligible for health insurance through your employer, please visit the Health Insurance Marketplace at HealthCare.Gov or by calling 1-800-318-2596 to make sure you stay well and stay covered!
