Did you know that Ko’olauloa Health Center has a board-qualified podiatrist/foot & ankle surgeon on staff?

Yes, we do! Dr. Day runs our podiatry department which offers diagnosis and treatment of all disorders in the lower extremity. Dr. Day’s professional interests include trauma, advanced foot, and ankle reconstruction, podiatric orthopedics, sports medicine, diabetic care, and bunion correction.

Dr. Day believes in treating his patients like family, taking the time necessary to understand their needs. His patient-focused care allows him to work with his patients to achieve their specific goals while employing an evidence-based, yet individualized approach.

Born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu, Dr. Day graduated from Kahuku High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biology at Brigham Young University-Hawaii. He then pursued a Medical degree at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. Following graduation, he completed a 3-year podiatric medical and surgical residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation/Mercy Regional Health Medical Center in Cleveland Ohio, where he trained under several leaders in the field of podiatric surgery and served as chief resident during his last year.

Meet Dr. Cecilia! Did you know that poor childhood access to dental care led to serious problems for KHC's new dentist, Cecilia Serrato, DMD. Fixing her mouth had such a positive impact on her life, she was inspired to become a dentist and help others.

Dr. Serrato's goal is caring for both pediatric and adult patients and preventing unnecessary dental pain.

Know the warning signs:

- New lump in your breast or armpit
- Any swelling or thickening of your breast
- Irritation or dimpling of breast skin
- Redness or flaky skin on your breast
- Pain or pulling in of your nipple
- Nipple discharge (other than milk!)
- Change in size or shape of your breast
- Pain in any part of your breast

Your first AW can be scheduled within the first 12 months of signing up for Medicare. After that, you're entitled to an AWV in addition to your regular annual physical exams every year.

First colon cancer screens should be at age 45. Are you overdue?

Screen options include stool tests, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and CT colonography.

Blood test for prostate cancer antigens starting at age 55 or if you have symptoms

Talk to your doctor about frequent urination, weak interrupted flow, discomfort urinating, and blood in your urine.

Here are a few common sense Halloween tips from our Dentistry Department:

1. Don’t go batty for the candy! Of course, as your Ko’olauloa area dentists, we would prefer you not have so many sugary sweets. The key is moderation.

2. When in doubt throw it out! Make sure your keiki understands that no one eats any candy at all until back home. There it is best to empty your trick-or-treat bag on a table and overlook each piece. Anything that is open, damaged, or just odd-looking should be thrown out.
