Aloha ‘Ohana,

Here is a great message from our friends at the Hawaii Department of Health:

Devoting some time every day to care for yourself can go a long way toward protecting your heart health. Self-care, like moving more, preparing healthier meals, getting enough quality sleep, and taking a moment to de-stress, helps your heart.

4-7-8 Breathing

Aloha ‘Ohana!

Here is a simple wellness tip from our staff.

When everyday stress hits, try 4-7-8 breathing. Breathing is an essential act that requires no thought. But thinking about it can alter your physical and mental health. It can relieve stress and anxiety or help you wind down and fall asleep. Here’s how to do it:

1. Inhale through your notes for four counts.
2. Then hold that breath for seven counts.
3. Then exhale through your mouth (slowly) for eight counts.
